Trial Dictation Protocol: Testing Acoustics, Volume and Notepad Placement
Never Waste the Trial Passage Before the actual 10-minute graded dictation, every government exam board provides a 1-to-2 minute trial passage. This is your only opportunity to fix exam room defects. What to Check During Trial Dictation Acoustic Echo: Is the loudspeaker echoing off the back wall? If so, immediately raise your hand and request the invigilator to reduce echo. Speaker Volume: Is the voice too loud (distorted) or too faint? Ask for volume recalibration before the real test starts. Table Stability: Does your desk wobble when you write? Wedging a folded piece of paper under the leg prevents writing tremors.
