Overview of SSC Stenographer Skill Examination
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts skill tests for Stenographer Grade 'C' (100 WPM) and Grade 'D' (80 WPM). The dictation is 10 minutes long, followed by a dedicated computer transcription period.

Important Note: SSC permits maximum 5% errors for UR candidates in Grade C (7% for reserved) and 7% for UR in Grade D (10% for reserved).
Exam Hall Execution Checklist
- Trial Dictation Check: Utilize the 2-minute trial dictation to adjust audio volume and get accustomed to the speaker's voice.
- Pencil & Notebook Preparation: Keep two sharpened steno pencils ready or test your smooth ink pen beforehand.
- Initial Reading Window: Spend 5 minutes reading your shorthand notebook before touching the keyboard to mentally fix difficult outlines.
