Tackling Singular/Plural Suffix Confusion
Mishearing or forgetting an 's' at the end of words like 'officer' vs 'officers' or 'statement' vs 'statements' is a major source of half-error penalties in exam evaluations.
Circle 'S' & Large Circle Rules
- Small Circle S: Appended to stroke ends to denote singular possessive or simple plural 's'.
- Large Circle SES/SZ: Used for double 's' sounds such as 'classes', 'processes', 'cases'.
- Contextual Agreement: Check subject-verb agreement during computer transcription (e.g. The members are... vs The member is...).
